Ready To Start Supporting Your Staff With YFN?
Would you like to empower your people to improve their physical and mental health?
Especially since the pandemic, more and more employers started to offer employee benefits around physical health. Companies have acklowledged that mental health support is incredibly important when it comes to workplace wellbeing, and it has been proven that a healthier body often results in a healthier mind.
Hello, I’m Alexandra Forrest, Founder and CEO at YFN.
Most people in business have a reason why they set up their business, their ‘why’. It has to start somewhere. For you, it could be a burning ambition to work for yourself rather than report to someone else, you have an awesome product you want to launch which is worthy of a Dragon’s Den appearance, or you simply want a better lifestyle for your family. I am no different.
But, my story is quite different. It’s individual but equally common at the same time. How does that work, you’re thinking? This is my journey.
A few years ago, I suffered from a series of mental traumas, which resulted in a diagnosis of chronic depression. Not pleasant, I can tell you. Even now, that part of my life is still foggy and not a place to which I’d want to return to. Sadly, this is becoming all too common.
Aside from the support of my family, the only way in which I could look forward to temporary relief was when I exercised. As I walked through the doors at my local gym, I was transported to a different place, I was in a different mindset. My endorphins were pumped up, resulting in the feel-good transmitters rushing through my brain. For that period of time, I did not worry or analyse the ‘what-ifs’.
I have always reacted to anything thrown at me, by exercising, even since childhood. Very sadly, my dad took his life and exercise helped me get through this extremely hard time in my life. The impact on our mental health when exercising is pretty indescribable. I like to call it a ‘super power’ as there’s nothing like it.
I launched YFN in memory of my dad and as such, I would love to continue my fitness journey and share my experiences with you. Physical well-being is so important, whether as an individual or in the workplace, so let me help spread the word and get everyone exercising.
Mental Health is more prevalent than ever, more so courtesy of the COVID-19 pandemic and I know that exercise can be a key component in helping ease the pain. I have created YFN to ensure we can build a better, longer future for ourselves, our loved ones, our businesses and our workforce.
